Skate tool

My work focuses on the design of a multitool known as Skate Tool, designed for the maintenance of skateboards in the field. My Skate Tool combines a set of two wrenches for adjusting the trucks and wheels of a skateboard with a bearing extractor that also serves as a lock to keep the tools joint when needed. The tool can be snapped together into a storage position using magnets. But, more importantly, we can join the parts at right angles to get more leverage or achieve a grip similar to a traditional screwdriver, by connecting them in series. Its main advantages are its compactness, durability, and clear design language, making it a practical and efficient tool for skateboarders. The tool also includes a ratchet for adjusting the resistance of the trucks, which simplifies tightening and loosening and gives users the ability to adjust the truck's settings and change wheels to respond to changing terrain. The project was based on a market analysis showing that most of the available skate tools are aimed at the complete assembly of skateboards, which is not common for most users. The resulting Skate Tool design takes inspiration from the casual feel of skateboarding and has a plain and modern design, using the iconic Vans shoe sole motif and logo. It also combines simple manufacturing processes and durable materials. The final product is designed with usability, durability, and aesthetics in mind.
