We were not concerned with a strict (formalistic) fulfillment of the
assignment by designing a wall lamp, table lamp or other form
of product - we expected a greater intellectual overlap from the
students in the KAREL studio, when it was possible to connect the
concept of light formally (conceptually) on a broader philosophical
level – with an output that could to be a mere metaphor,
when students were not limited by any focus, any form
or material and technological balance.
We focused on choosing the right target interaction of the semester project with a specific user group and a specific issue or space within which the student’s concept communicates.
The true face of light is darkness, only we don’t see her.
