Podvodní dron pro profesionální kamery
Ateliér Streit/Polák
This project dealt with the of an underwater drone intended for professional underwater filming.
The goal was to create a compact drone that is able to accommodate any professional camera of a medium to smaller size which is interchangable up to the user's choice. This creates a product concept that sits between regular underwater drones with an integrated camera and a professional diver with an pro cinema underwater camera in his hands, giving the possibility of greater flexibility when filming underwater. The camera is fixed in the middle of the drone using a skid system, which can be freely modified according to the user's needs and simply removed. This systém is widely used in the film industry so any attachments are obviously compatible.
The body construction consists of a central airtight chamber storing the camera and internal electronics module, the whole cylider is closed off by transparent front lens in the front for the camera and hand screwable rear door in the back.
The rear entrance door is closed with a rotary lock which is easily accesible with no tools but still secure enough to not let any water in, system inspired by submarine doors The rest of the structure is made of a plastic exoskeleton holding eight electric motors in total around the central core.
From the top, the drone can be easily carried or pulled out of water using the ergonomic handle recessed in the body shape of the drone. The frames of the motors have rubber feet so that the drone can be placed on different sides without damaging the parts. In the front, it is equipped with four lights on the motors frames, which provide diffuse lighting which is ideal for the view from the camera. They are placed as far as possible from the camera to improve visibility even in poor visibility conditions while not obstructing the shape of the drone.
