Jestřábí boudy
Ateliér Girsa
„Jestřábí boudy“, a defunct group of mountain lodges, are located below the „Vrbatovo návrší“ in the Giant Mountains. The lodges were built in 1938 as a barracks, and over time they changed their function several times until they were demolished in 1986. Today it is almost impossible to see where the lodges were originally located.
The project consists of a partial restoration that recreates the original urban layout of the structures in the terrain, although the structures remain only at the level of the former plinths. However, given the surrounding rugged countryside, which is protected by the highest level of protection in the National Park, more than anywhere else the choice of new features and associated new loads needs to be considered.
The two lower lodges are reminded of their existence by the torsional restoration of the perimeter walls. The upper two lodges provide the base, used for research purposes. In the upper part of the lodges, a green roof creates an accessible terrace that offers views directly into „Kotelní jámy“ and the surrounding area. The atypical lodge by the old road is the only one restored in its entirety and offers facilities for visitor infrastructure with the possibility of exhibition space.
