The result of my semester's work were two products, the hanging swing for children Bembea and the glass fly catcher Sarra.
My main inspiration for designing the swing was the nests of the South African weaver, which builds spherical nests suspended from tree branches. I decided to create a swing of a similar shape for preschoolers.
The swing has three height levels, which will allow the child to discover and gradually get used to greater heights. As the main material, I chose a transparent fabric, which provides the child with a feeling of comfort and privacy, but at the same time ensures easy supervision for the parents. The swing can be placed both indoors and hung on a branch in the garden in the summer - Bembea is light and compact enough to make it easy to transport.
My second project was also inspired by nature, more precisely by the carnivorous sarracenia genus. The task was to design a fly swatter, but due to my dislike of actively killing flies, I decided to design a swatter instead.
The product consists of two glass parts - an elongated flask and a removable funnel-shaped lid that prevents flies from escaping. The entire flytrap is designed so that it can be stuck into a flowerpot. The bottom of the flask is closed, so different liquids can be used as bait. Due to its unpretentiousness and aesthetics, Sarra is suitable for any space crowded with flies.
