Markéta Smrčková

Jury / architecture


She graduated from the Faculty of Architecture at the Czech Technical University in Prague. In the year 2000, she co-founded the architectural studio Lennox architekti with Tomáš Starý. The studio is dedicated to creating designs ranging from small interventions and new constructions to renovations and territorial studies. All of their realized public commissions have originated from architectural competitions or workshops. Among the significant projects of recent years is the revitalization project of the cultural heritage zone Buďánka in Prague and the reconstruction of Koloniál into a community center. In addition to designing, she also serves as a judge in architectural competitions.

Peter Bednár

Jury / architecture


Architect and urban planner Peter Bednár works at the Jakub Cigler Architekti office. He is primarily involved in city development, public spaces, and publishing activities for the Finmag magazine and Seznam Zprávy. He studied at the University of Arkansas and Urban Planning at TU Delft.

Markéta Zdebská

The founder of the Prague-based studio BY architects, which tackles a diverse range of projects of various scales, always with respect for the client, the environment, and conceptual work. The office's realizations have been featured in both Czech and international publications, including Archdaily, Gestalten, and Braun Publishing. In addition to nominations at the Czech Architecture Grand Prix (ČCA) and numerous awards in public competitions, the studio is part of the author team behind the winning proposal for the Revitalization of Karlovo náměstí (Charles Square) in Prague.

Radek Toman

He was born in Litomyšl. He studied architecture at Brno University of Technology (VUT). During his studies, he completed internships at the University of Brighton and in the office of OFIS Arhitekti in Ljubljana. Between 2014 and 2016, he taught at Southeast University in Nanjing, China, where he led a studio for international students. In his doctoral thesis, he explored the interconnection of architecture, culture, and politics using the example of Chinese urbanization. He leads a studio at the Faculty of Architecture at Brno University of Technology, where he has been the vice-dean for external relations since 2018.

Michal Marcinov

He began studying landscape architecture at the Faculty of Architecture of the Slovak University of Technology (STU) and completed his studies at the Faculty of Civil Engineering at STU. In 2012, he founded the Landscape Architecture Laboratory, where he currently collaborates with colleagues on various projects in cooperation with architects from urban planning to unconventional furniture. Along with colleagues from the 2021 studio, he received the CEZAAR 2016 award in the Exterior category for the construction of a bridge and a lookout on the Straník hill in Žilina. Currently, he is involved in the gradual implementation of Freedom Square in Bratislava, the development of the design for the Castle Park in Ostrava Poruba, and other projects. On occasion, he also serves as a jury member in architectural competitions...

Petra Vlachynská

jury / design


She is a sculptor who studied architecture at the Faculty of Architecture of the Czech Technical University (FA CTU) and sculpture in the studio of Kurt Gebauer at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague (UMPRUM). She defended her doctoral thesis in 2021 at the Institute of Urbanism at FA CTU. The theme of her dissertation was permanent artistic works in Prague after 1989 in relation to the urban context of the city. She has collaborated with organizations such as IPR Prague, the Jaroslav Frágner Gallery, and ERA 21. Together with Jan Stolín, she leads an art studio focused on creating works in public space, site-specific art, and new media at the Faculty of Arts and Architecture at the Technical University of Liberec. In her own artistic practice, she engages in both abstract and figurative sculpture. She has realized permanent and temporary works for public spaces and architecture.

Eduard Herrmann

Half of the design studio, founded by two classmates during their studies at UMPRUM. It all started with a shared school assignment... and a beer. Since then, the studio's portfolio has expanded to include numerous projects, particularly in the field of product design. Eduard continues his studies in the doctoral program at UMPRUM, where his dissertation focuses on developing ideas related to shared and open design, as well as exploring the possibilities of reusing existing designs.

Monika Martykánová

A recent graduate of the ceramics and porcelain studio at the Academy of Arts, Architecture, and Design. Her work is inspired by traditional crafts interpreted through modern approaches. The themes of her pieces comment on contemporary issues in modern society, such as the position of women, animal rights, or the pandemic. She is particularly interested in the issues of figurative porcelain and strives to reintroduce it into everyday life. She explores the fragility of the material and pushes its limits. Her works are part of the collections of the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague and the Prague City Museum. She was recently featured as a finalist in the Diploma Selection at Designblok, received two awards in the National Prize for Student Design competition, and was nominated for the Discovery of the Year at the Czech Grand Design awards.
